11:38 pm - ID to buy Pepsi!!

lhsmallfry

Something in the system got mixed up and it required ID to buy the 12 pack of Diet Pepsi and some (but not all) of the other Pepsi products.  I dreaded it when I saw people put there box of Pepsi product on the belt because I new what was coming.  I would have to ask for there ID, and they would give me a look like I had 3 heads and be like "I need an ID to buy PEPSI now?!" and I would have to go into my explanation over the glitch in the system.

It was really bad though when I was explaining to one guy it had been like this since Friday.  I  blamed it on Pepsi and said they should be out tomorrow to fix the glitch.  That is when he showed me his Pepsi ID badge and said he had never head of any such thing happening.  I was MORTIFIED I thew this poor man under the bus.

PS... Nobody ever posts anymore... Did they all switch to a FB Target Bitching group and if so what is it called?

12:27 pm - Starbucks

reneeisxena
Starbucks opened today at our Target. So of course I had to go in on my day off to try it. Yummy! I love the coffee and the breakfast sandwiches. I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a LOT of time there. :)

Target is staying open unil 1 am next Friday for the release of Twilight-The New Moon on DVD....WTF!?!

This is completely NUTS. We will still sell out of the damn movie on Saturday for those who don't want to wait up all night to get the FIRST copies. Really seriously it's not a big deal and there is no need for us to do this.

Oddly enough we haven't advertised for this even. The least they could do is put up signs saying "THE NEW MOON IS COMING on Feb 10th and we are open till 1am so come get your copy."

05h0twheels Does anyone know how much a backroom team member gets paid starting at 4am in the morning? I think I'm getting underpaid because my checks still say "primary workcenter:cashier". And I transferred from that awhile back.

Okay, why does the freakin' Team Member Services never work online...
Sometimes I can't always go into the store to use the computer there to change it but it never works at home. They really need to change the ENTIRE format of that thing.

3:47 pm - Remodel

reneeisxena
The remodel is in full swing now. The former food ave is boarded up and there is a doorway marked "Do Not Enter". The backroom looks like a bomb hit it and a few other areas have already been dismantled, the fitting rooms for one. This is the second remodel I've been through and I always find the hubbub and activity kind of exciting. I'm easily entertained I guess. I've gotten mostly cashier shifts with a couple operator and service desk shifts. I don't know when Starbucks will start their interviews or whether I'll pass inspection. I'm not really worried, but I know the training will be intensive.

8:09 pm - Starbucks in Target

reneeisxena
On Jan. 2 they will be closing food avenue to put in a Starbucks. Has anyone gone through this re-fit before? How long does it take? How long will the training take? I am excited and a bit nervous, I've never been to any Starbucks before, much less one in a Target. So any info you all can give me would be great.

1:39 pm - Being a Cart Attendant sucks
aprimmer243 I live in florida, and I got a job at Target about a month ago. My choices on my Application were; #1: Sales Floor, #2: Cashier, and #3: Food Service.

I thought I'd actually get food service, seeing as I had experience in the food industry.

But no, they made me a cart attendant, and they make me do more than what's in my job description.

Picking up every other cart attendants shifts who don't wanna come in cause they don't feel like it, is not part of my job description.

Especially yesterday, when the cart attendant who was there before me did a really shitty job, no carts in grocery, and no carts in GM, and he just hands me the keys and the remote and says "Here you go", with this big shit eating grin on his face.

Right after I clocked in and started grabbing carts, my walkie exploded with the LOD, GSTL, and the GSA asking for shit from me. Like, "Cart Attendant, spill in the ladies restroom." "Cart Attendant, you have Salvage and CRC at Guest Services that need to be taken to the back room" and "Cart Attendant, can you change the 4 trash cans out front please? They are overflowing"

All but the first one should've been taken care of before the other attendant left. But not only that, it just seemed like he didn't do anything that whole day. How are you gonna leave me with only 12 carts on the grocery side?

Then, near the end of my shift, (i was closing), the LOD just asks how i'm doing. I told her I was fine, and she said ok. About 35 minutes later, she comes out and says "hey, I asked you about an hour ago if you needed help. We are about to close the store, and there are still a ton of carts out here. I thought you said you had it?"

She NEVER asked if I needed help. If she did, I would've said yes in a heartbeat.

-sigh- and that was just one of my days...

1:27 pm - Black Friday.

reneeisxena
So how was everyone's Black Friday? I opened food ave and at first it was a bit slow but then at around 1AM it got crazy. I called for additional help, soon there were 3 of us back there, one running the register and 2 getting food. I didn't get my first break until 3AM! Of course by 4:30AM it had really died down. I must say most people were polite and no one got upset when we couldn't get the Icee machine to work or when they had to wait for popcorn. I wonder how different next year will be when we have a Starbucks? Anyone here work in Starbucks, was it busy? This was my ninth Black Friday and I had never seen the line so long, it went all the way around the building to the receiving door. I think the weather being so much nicer than in past years had something to do with the amount of people in line. I'm just glad it's over.

Does anyone here do instocks frequently? If so, are any of you part of the research-only test stores? I'm curious how other stores, particularly stores bigger than mine (lately we've been doing $35-40k a day), are handling this.

For all the backroom TMs... how often is your backroom completely empty, meaning not one piece of backstock anywhere in the back that hasn't been located yet? And what do you do when that happens? My store comes clean maybe once a month, if that, and I can't imagine that other stores run like that. :/

So, how are we all feeling about Target opening up at 12am this year?
It could be worse right? We could be opening up at 10pm of Thanksgiving day.
Honestly it's not so much the 12am I mind, it's the possibility of having to work till 3am the day of Thanksgiving and come back at 12am on Friday - if that happens I can kiss my thanksgiving goodbye. Anyone else excited/bummed/angry about this?

1:17 pm - Effed up week

shadesofblack07
So the schedule for this week was very effed up. It was printed two weeks ago, and I swear it was changed without notice. Nobody bothered to print out the new schedule and post it up. Nobody bothered to inform anyone that it was changed. Im not sure how much it screwed the store, but it surely did screw with electronics.

One of the LODs tried to place the blame on the TMs instead, insisting that it was because we swapped too much shifts this week, inferring to me and the TM I had swapped with. I told her that it was not just the schedule of mine and the TM whom I had swapped with that had a screwed up schedule, but everyone in electronics was experiencing the same. What was written down on paper was different from the system and no one bothered to change that.

What ticked me off was that they tried to place the blame on us for their mistake. And we suffered because of their mistake. Some of us, as a result of this, did not know we worked on certain days, and so we ended up getting written up for no call/no shows.

Does anyone have the number to call when one has forgotton their ehr password?  I've googled everywhere and can't find it. (>.> be really nice if I didn't HAVE to change my password that often and could actually get the chance to remember it)

I'd wait until my next shift but I need to schedule a day off and if I wait that long I may not be able to log on by the time that shift has to be marked off.

Thanks in advance.

d3r7g1950 Since my store's pfresh upgrade earlier this year, it has been steadily turning more and more into a shit-hole. This is not just my opinion, as a number of TM's have remarked the same thing. Not sure why this is happening. It's true that it's now being more heavily shopped, but we are still at modest staffing levels, as we were before the upgrade. Morale is low, and a mild sense of chaos seems to prevail. Anyone else having this experience after upgrade?

9:09 pm - Blackout

reneeisxena
We had a blackout at my Target this morning. Not sure what caused it, but there has been a lot of bad weather around the last few days. I work the cafe and I only had to turn one guest away when my register went down. Other than that it wasn't too bad, got all the perishables from the display case quickly in the back fridge. It only lasted about 45 minutes or so, not a big problem really.

Has anyone else had experience with power outages? What happened, how long was it?

current mood: tired
